L’Atelier Carré Noir was founded in Paris in 2024 by architects Nathanaël Pinard and Marc Viaud. Based in the 10th arrondissement, it was born from the desire to pursue innovative creative processes centered around social, ethical and ecological values. Its founders are convinced that a sensitive approach, the search for new models of governance and the defense of the common good constitute the fundamental basis of contemporary architecture.
This collaboration follows a first practice in their own names as part of the Collectif Carré Noir, an informal collective founded in 2020 with several former classmates from the Clermont-Ferrand School of Architecture. Specializing in urban and architectural experiments, the Collective has won several competitions, including three Europan competitions (editions 16 and 17), Reuse Italy and even Gaudi La Coma Artists'Residence, a competition organized by the Gaudi Foundation.
Their previous experience as heads of project allowed them to acquire solid experience in hospital and security architecture but also in the design of housing, embassies, sports and educational facilities, scientific equipment, offices, individual homes, etc.
Their projects are located in France, whether in the Paris region or in other regions of the country such as the southwest, Auvergne or the Bordeaux metropolis, but also internationally, notably with several awards won in Spain or in Italy. Multidisciplinary and multilingual, the Atelier Carré Noir teams know how to adapt to different contexts, programs and project scales, listening to clients and project owners.
L'Atelier Carré Noir views the design of projects as a collaborative journey between clients and architects. Their design processes always lead to the formulation of several project scenarios in order to obtain a personalized work adapted to the client's uses and needs. This flexible approach makes it possible to suggest innovative and sensitive solutions for the project and different ways of living without imposing it.
Do not hesitate to contact Nathanaël PINARD to discuss your project!
